Yes,the Ps3 has a more robust lineup in 2009 but that does not mean the Xbox 360 has been 'defeated'.
All it means is Microsoft need to immediately stop wasting their money on third party games and start investing their cash into some first party studios,just because Rare has failed them thus far does not mean their first party can never be on Sonys/Nintendos level.

It's mainly considered a failure by Americans because it doesn't come with 2 things:
1)Shovelware.
2)A Microsoft logo.
